What Was Theodore Halls Jr. Sentenced To?

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Lee County District Attorney Jessica Ventiere announced that Theodore Halls Jr. received the following sentences:

  • Sodomy First Degree: 35 years

  • Sexual Abuse First Degree (two counts): 10 years each, split to serve 2 years in jail and 8 on probation, consecutive to each other and before the sodomy sentence.

  • Sexual Abuse First Degree (second count): 10 years, split to serve 2 years in jail and 8 years on probation

Sentences are consecutive, so each must be served in full before the next begins.

What Led to the Conviction?

Halls was found guilty on Friday, May 16, 2025, following a trial that included testimony from investigators. The jury convicted him on the following charges:

  • Sodomy

  • Sex Abuse

  • Sex Abuse Lesser

The charges stemmed from a 2022 incident in which Halls, then a rideshare driver, picked up a woman from SkyBar and sexually assaulted her.

The Trial Process

The case went to trial in May 2025, nearly three years after the assault occurred in 2022. Halls was convicted on May 16, 2025, and sentenced on June 17, 2025.

  • Investigators testified about the evidence in the case

  • Halls himself took the stand to testify in his own defense

  • The jury reached what was described as a "split decision" on May 16, 2025

Despite the split nature of the verdict, Halls was convicted on multiple serious charges that led to the consecutive sentences.

Auburn Nightclub Pickup Turned Into Sexual Assault

This case highlights ongoing concerns about passenger safety in rideshare vehicles, particularly for those leaving entertainment venues late at night. The victim was picked up from SkyBar nightclub, where Halls was working as a rideshare driver in 2022.

The consecutive nature of Halls' sentences means he will serve a minimum of 4 years in jail (2 years each for the sexual abuse charges) before beginning the 35-year sentence for sodomy, resulting in a lengthy period of incarceration for offenses committed against the passenger.
